 Why I Love Keurig Machines

If you know me, you know I love coffee. It’s my morning ritual, my mid-afternoon pick-me-up, and my evening indulgence on the occasional late night. My son and daughter-in-law got me my first Keurig machine, and since then, I’ve been hooked. Over the years, I’ve tried a few different models and even dabbled with an off-brand K-cup machine when I worked at an agency. But in the end, Keurig has my heart.

What I love most about Keurig machines is their simplicity. They brew just one cup at a time, and they’re incredibly quick. No more waiting for an entire pot to brew—just pop in a K-cup, press a button, and you’ve got a perfect cup of coffee in minutes. The variety of K-cups is another plus—you can experiment with different flavors or stick to a favorite. The downside? K-cups tend to be more expensive than traditional ground coffee, but for me, the convenience and variety are worth it.

Comparing Two Popular Keurig Models

After my first Keurig started acting up, I replaced it with a new model in December 2024. Here’s a comparison of the two machines I’ve owned, highlighting the pros and cons of each.

Model 1: Keurig with Detachable Water Reservoir

Pros:

  • Detachable water reservoir: This makes it easy to refill and clean.
  • Customizable brew sizes: You can select specific ounce settings (e.g., 6 oz, 8 oz), which is great for controlling the strength of your coffee.
  • Larger water capacity: It seems to hold more water than my newer model.

Cons:

  • I rarely filled the reservoir to its full capacity since I typically add just enough water for the cup size I want.
  • Over time, it developed issues that required replacing the machine. Actually, I purchased it in March 2022 and had to replace it in December 2024. I thought this was too quick, but, it did get used multiple times a day.

Model 2: Keurig Without Detachable Water Reservoir

Pros:

  • Compact design: Its streamlined look fits well in smaller spaces.
  • Measuring cup hack: Although you can’t select specific ounce sizes on the Keurig machine itself like my first one, I use a measuring cup to put the water in the machine and that way I know how much coffee I’m getting.  There are ounces on the side of the machine where the water goes to let  you know how much water is in the reservoir. I’m talking about selecting how many ounces of coffee you want the machine to make.

Cons:

  • Less customizable: You can’t easily select smaller brew sizes unless you measure the water beforehand.

My Overall Thoughts

While both models have their merits, I’m still figuring out which one I prefer. The detachable reservoir on the first model is convenient, but I didn’t use it as much as I thought I would. The second model, though less customizable, works just as well for my needs with a simple measuring cup workaround. Ultimately, both are reliable machines that deliver the Keurig experience I’ve come to love.

What Other Users Are Saying

Here’s what others seem to like and dislike about these two machines:

Model 1:

  • Likes: Easy-to-use controls, detachable reservoir, and customizable brew sizes.
  • Dislikes: Some users report wear and tear over time, requiring replacement.

Model 2:

  • Likes: Sleek design and simplicity.
  • Dislikes: Lack of brew-size customization and fixed reservoir.

Final Verdict

If you love coffee as much as I do, you can’t go wrong with a Keurig. Both models deliver that quick, one-cup-at-a-time convenience that’s perfect for busy mornings or relaxing afternoons. Whether you prefer a detachable reservoir or a more compact design, there’s a Keurig for everyone.
