🌱 We Need to Focus on God and the Solution—Instead of the Problem

🧩 When the Plumbing Breaks, So Does Our Perspective

The other day, I noticed something strange: a gurgling noise in the shower. Then the toilet started bubbling. Next thing I knew, water was backing up and nothing was draining properly.

My first reaction? Frustration.

That’s my bathroom. The one I use every day. I didn’t feel like dealing with problems, messes, or backup. I skipped my exercise, felt irritated, and let the situation throw off my day.

And honestly? I stewed in my frustration.
Then after letting it derail me, it hit me:

Girl, you have another bathroom.
So what—you had to use another bathroom?
People have real problems and you’re complaining because you had to use another bathroom in your house?

Right then I knew: I needed to be thankful that I even had another bathroom to use.

You see—I already knew that God has provided a solution to every problem I’ll ever have. But in that moment, I chose to focus on the problem instead of the solution that was already in place.

And that’s what happens: focusing on the problem magnifies the problem.

The sump pump issue? Fixed.
The plumbing? Fixed.
It was a minor inconvenience—but that’s what we do. We zero in on the inconvenience and blow it up in our minds.

I’m not saying ignore your problems.
I’m saying: recognize that God is bigger than any problem. And His provision is already on the scene.

Scriptures to Refocus Your Mind

1. Philippians 4:19
“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.”
Even plumbing needs. Even perspective needs. ALL NEEDS!!!
2. Psalm 23:1
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.”
I lacked nothingI just forgot to see it.
3. Isaiah 26:3
“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.”
My peace returned when I shifted my focus.

3 Faith Affirmations to Shift the Atmosphere

1. I focus on God, not the mess.
2. My solution is already on the way—even if I don’t see it yet.
3. I’m surrounded by provision, and I choose to see it.

🙏🏽 Mini Reflection

It wasn’t just the toilet that was backed up—my faith was too.
I let inconvenience speak louder than gratitude.
But God didn’t just restore my plumbing—He restored my perspective.

Journal Prompt:

Where am I focusing more on the problem than the provision?

Recommendation

I journal every day—that’s one of the main ways I talk to God. Journaling helps me stay centered, focused on gratitude, grounded in God’s promises, and able to recognize His movement in my life throughout the day.

Here are two journals I recommend:
